Insane Plan: Paul Bearer Tribute

Oh Yeaaaaaah

I have always been a big fan of the Managers of Pro Wrestling and even bigger fan of gimmicks in wrestling and the most bizarre and all-time great is Paul Bearer. In the 1980s I was a Macho Man fan and that means i was a Hugh fan of his manager Miss Elizabeth.. Once the 1980s was over and we entered a new era of pro wrestling in the 1990's. We were introduced to the Undertaker who had Paul Bearer as his manager.. I was hooked from day one and Undertaker became my new obsession in the WWE which means Paul Bearer was a big part in that obsession. The thing about managers is when you look at the other greats such as Jimmy Hart, Bobby the Brain, and even Sensational Sherri at ringside you know that they will have a part in the match almost every time they are at ringside but when you see Miss Elizabeth or Paul Bearer at ringside, it’s almost unpredictable to know if they will get involved or not, but when they do it makes it special and the building erupts. For example, one of my favorite Undertaker matches was the WWF Royal Rumble 1994 when Taker faced Yokozuna in a casket match and Yokozuna two managers Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette stole Paul Bearer’s urn that was the key strength to the Undertaker’s power and unknown to what Paul bearer was going to do, he surprised the world by taking out both of them and taking back what was his. That had to be one of my favorite Paul Bearer moments at ringside. During the early years of Insane Plan.. I was looking for a legend to interview as I wasn’t having much luck being new to the business and a mutual friend of mine suggested that he would have Paul bearer agree to do an interview and explain to the man himself that I am new and he would be a perfect subject for me to learn the art of interviewing. Believe it or not, I turned it down for several reasons and that includes of his legendary status in wrestling and I didn’t think I was ready for a Big name on Insane Plan… Leilani Kai was the only big name on Insane Plan and she was the main key to help Insane Plan off the ground. But when Paul bearer came along and agreed… it was one of the most OMG moments on insane plan. Although now I look back on it, I’m like geeze the interview could be better but Paul bearer knew I was green in the field and had patience and was very kind and good to me when we worked together on the interview… I ended up contacting him for a 2nd interview several years later in hopes to replace the first could be better interview and although he agreed, he had to back out due to his new deal with WWE bringing him back in 2010. I ended up working with his son DJ Pringle on a 2008 interview and booking him through the site as he was an up and comer in wrestling… you know he was raised right as he was also very kind and well respected when I came into contact with him. Once I learned of Bearer’s death, Ironically I found out on the Miss Elizabeth Fan page on Facebook.. I was devastated, I couldn’t shake off that shocking feeling of not wanting to believe he passed and I immediately had a Paul Bearer night youtubing his career and watching videos from all his eras in wrestling including his last run with the WWE in 2010, which by the way should be voted comeback of the year when no spoilers or internet dirt sheets had a clue about the return of Paul Bearer and when he did by laying in a closed casket… a big pop from the crowd… it gave me chills! However I am for one to always make sure the memories of these legends live on, but how WWE does it, is very tasteless. Reminds me of the whole Eddy Guerrero story line after his death… it’s one thing to continue the memory but to make a mockery of his death is just cruel!

--Moved to Mississippi to continue his work as a funeral director

1984

--Percy Pringle Managed Texas red that would later be known as the Undertaker in his debut match against Bruiser Brody in world Class Championship Wrestling

1985

--January 15, Percy Pringle resumed full time in pro wrestling

--September, Percy Pringle debuts Lex Luger in championship wrestling from Florida, managing him in his first professional wrestling match

1986

--Percy Pringle got hired as a manager in world class championship wrestling as Percy Pringle the 3rd

1987

--January 8, Moody and Dianna’s 2nd son Daniel Joseph was born

1988

--Percy Pringle & Eric Embry won the control of Texas wrestling and torn down the WCCW banner and hanging up the USWA banner ending a era and beginning a new era.

1989

--Moody co-authored a book with Dennis Brent inside secrets on how to enter the exciting world of wrestling

1990

--December 22nd, by the recommendation of Rick Rude, WWF signed Moody to a Contract

1991

--February, Paul Bearer debuts in the WWF on the Brother Love Show who originally managed the Undertaker was introduced as his new manager

Paul Bearer Tribute
